WATCH: The First Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Jessica Jones’ Is Here, and It’s Perfect

Hopefully this will quell your anticipation for the next couple of weeks.

The first full-length trailer for Jessica Jones has finally been released, and it’s as dark and dramatic as we imagined.

The trailer gives us our first look at the titular hero Jones and her superhuman powers, but this isn’t going to be an easygoing ride. We’re meeting Jones post-superhero career, dealing with her past in the midst of all the world’s evil.

Krysten Ritter stars as the former superhero turned detective Jessica Jones in the new Marvel series, which airs on Netflix on Nov. 20th. The dark-haired beauty is troubled, suffering from PTSD and fearful of a man from her past known as Killgrave (David Tennant), aka the Purple Man in the comic series. The show is said to deal with topics like sexuality, rape, and assault.

In the series, Jones meets another Marvel superhero Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who is set to get his own Netflix series as well. Additionally, her best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) is in the show.

In the final line of the trailer, Ritter as Jones asserts, “God didn’t do this, the devil did. And I’m going to find him.”

Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said of the character:

Jessica Jones is a brawler. She gets drunk, she gets pissed off and boom, you’re down. She doesn’t wear a costume. She doesn’t have a mask. She’s just who she is. She’s an extremely blunt, direct person, and that applies to the action, as well.

The first episode debuted at New York Comic Con earlier this month, and early critics of the show praised it Ritter for her performance. The actress herself said in an interview that this role was her “biggest acting challenge” in her career yet.

Jessica Jones also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval. Rosario Dawson will guest star, reprising her role as the nurse in Daredevil.
