Reese Witherspoon Talks ‘Legally Blonde 3’: ‘I Think It Would Be Cool’

Will the world get to watch Elle Woods bend and snap once again?

Whoever said no to a third Legally Blonde film back in the day was seriously disturbed. Now, some 14 years after the first movie, Reese Witherspoon is playing the teasing game.

“I think it would be cool,” Reese told Rachel Zoe and Derek Blasberg on Fashionably Late last week. “I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately.”

According to Reese, the timing could not be any more perfect.

“I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women… I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court Justice or somebody who runs for office… president.”

President Elle Woods sounds wonderful to us. As long as little Bruiser can serve as VP.

Legally Blonde grossed $141.8 million in 2001. Its sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, was just as strong two years later with nearly $125 million in ticket sales. The film franchise also inspired a (mostly forgettable) direct-to-DVD spinoff Legally Blondes and a wonderful Broadway production, Legally Blonde: The Musical starring Laura Bell Bundy.
