WATCH: Gwen Stefani Awkwardly Asked About Gavin Rossdale Divorce

Gwen Stefani endured an awkward question about her now ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

The Voice coach appeared on The Today Show earlier today (Oct. 27) when Stefani was asked by nosy morning host Matt Lauer if there was any connection between her new song, “Used to Love You,” and her recent divorce from longtime love Rossdale.

Lauer asked, “Your personal life has been in the headlines. Are fans misinterpreting something here or is it all right there in front of us in terms of the song?”

A flustered Stefani replied:

Put me on the spot!…What I’ll say about that is that I’ve never put a record out where I’m actually going through things in real time…. I wrote that song like a couple weeks ago, and then I sat in front of a camera in a dressing room randomly not making a video, just to do like some video for the screens behind me and it went out and it’s the video and it’s like all very real.

Stefani appeared alongside her show’s co-judges Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton. Together they discussed being judges on the show.

The music video for Stefani’s song “Used to Love You” dropped on Oct. 20.

Rossdale and Stefani came to a divorce settlement over the weekend. They will share custody of their three children Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo Rossdale, 1.
