WATCH: Raven-Symone’s Comments on Spring Valley High School Assault Receive Major Backlash

Raven-Symone Apologizes for Offensive Disriminatory Names Comment
"I'm not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea..."

Raven-Symone is upsetting people again.

The View co-host and former child star commented on a recent news story that is making headlines, and the Internet isn’t pleased.

A video, which has now gone viral, shows a police officer slamming a Spring Valley High School student to the ground and dragging her to the front of the classroom when she wouldn’t stop talking on her cell phone. The footage has caused outrage, and the police officer in question has since lost his job.

However, when asked her opinion on the matter, Raven chose to place blame on both the girl and the adult in the video. “We don’t know everything,” Raven begins. “You do not need to be manhandling a child that way, but at the same time, kids, put your phones away.”

Raven-Symone continued by saying, “I was scared to go to the principal, and now there’s so much umph or gusto in younger people, they feel a lack of respect,” she says. “You can enjoy school, but you have to understand authority, you have to understand that we’re in a violent situation right now,” she says.

Raven’s comments have caused backlash on social media, with users saying violence wasn’t necessary in the way the student was disciplined.
