Jennifer Lopez Wants to Shake You Loose in Las Vegas
Let’s get loud.
Jennifer Lopez is about to bring the Bronx to Nevada with her new”All I Have” Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Axis Theater. Beginning on Jan. 20, 2016, the Shades of Blue actress will embark on a 20-show engagement that she hopes will get her fans up and out of their seats.
“I want it to be a high-energy, Bronx kind of block party,” she tells Ocean Drive magazine in an exclusive chat about her upcoming endeavor. “The most exciting shows make you dance, and scream, and jump up and down. I want people to really let loose.”
Lopez, who is never addressed as ‘J.Lo’ by her team, is ready to give one hundred percent to make her show truly unforgettable. “It’s always been my approach to performing, to work, to everything I do in life: I give it all I have,” she says. “That’s why it’s the name of my show.” She tells Ocean Drive that the favorite part of preparing for her Vegas residency is planning the costumes, calling it a “fantasy”.
“When you think of Diana Ross, Cher, or Barbra Streisand, it’s their costumes that became their signature.”
Lopez reveals her desire to keep the show dynamic, drawing inspiration from the hits that inspire her. “I want the show to be always changing, so it’s a unique experience every time—one night a Selena song, and another maybe something by Diana Ross,” she says, adding a hint towards Sam Smith.
“That song ‘Lay Me Down’? I really, really love it.”
Though not a drinker or a gambler herself, the singer rests assured that her mother will make the most of her stay in Vegas through the slot machines that she so relishes in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “Even if she weren’t [a fan of gambling], she would still come and see me,” she laughs, before adding. “Well, I like to think.”
