Justin Bieber on Selena Gomez: ‘I’m Never Going to Stop Loving Her’
Speaking with Access Hollywood, the “Sorry” singer confessed that he’ll forever have feelings for Selena Gomez. Explaining that their breakup has been tough and he’s not entirely sure if he’s over her just yet, Bieber, 21 admitted that he’s “never going to stop loving her.”
“It was really tough. I don’t know if I’m over it yet,” Bieber, who dated Gomez, 23, on-and-off from 2010 to 2013, said. “I think that I’m definitely in another place and I think we’ve definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her.”
“[She] is someone I love dearly. I’m never going to stop loving her, I’m never going to stop checking in on her,” he continued, noting that “probably like three” songs off his upcoming album Purpose is about their tumultuous romance. “I don’t think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other.”
Calling Gomez his “first real love,” Bieber also added that he hasn’t completely given up on the idea of a reconciliation just yet.
“I don’t know what is going to happen in the future,” he said. “I think we both gotta do some, some soul searching ourselves, and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other.”
Previously, Gomez also admitted that she’ll be forever stick by Bieber’s side through thick and thin. Though she insisted that they’re “genuinely” good friends for now, she told Elle magazine, “I’ll forever support him and love him in a way that.”
“We’re too young for that,” she said of the very public relationship.” I respect him. And I think he respects me, in a healthy manner.”
