Sam Smith Needs to ‘Kiss Some More Boys’ So He Can Write More Songs

Sam Smith Broke Some Guinness World Records
His James Bond theme song for 'Spectre' was pretty popular.

So, that’s the secret behind Sam Smith’s success.

After taking a little break from the music industry to repair his vocal chords, the “Writing’s On the Wall” singer will embark on a much-need career hiatus.

During his appearance on Ellen on Friday (Nov. 6, 2015), Smith tells Ellen DeGeneres that he’ll take a much longer break to focus on his personal life. So, after the daytime host suggested that he would take a year off to basically do “nothing,” the 23-year-old cheekily replied:

It’s actually a really recent decision. This could change. I change my mind all the time, but I kind of decided a few months ago that I need to have a little bit of a break. Because my music is so personal and I need to live my life. I basically need to kiss some more boys so I can write some songs.

Smith recently told ET that it’s a good time for him to “go home and just live his life and be a 23-year-old.” Hey, if a hiatus is what he needs to give us another amazing album, he’s got our full support. For now we can listen to him while we watch Spectre.
