Oprah Stands Up for the Kardashians, Commends Them for Their Hard Work as Reality TV Stars

Days after Rebel Wilson royally dissed the Kardashians for being famous yet completely untalented, Oprah Winfrey is unexpectedly coming to their defense.

Recalling an interview she did with the family, Oprah commended their work ethic on Keeping Up with the Kardashians during KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia today (Nov. 9). She explained, “I interviewed the Kardashians two years ago and I can’t believe how hard they work. People don’t understand that, people think, Oh, if a television camera’s just following you, then that’s just easy.”

Alas, we trust Oprah when she says that being followed by a television camera all day, every day, is not easy. “To really create a reality series that looks like something’s actually happening, it means you have to be on all the time,” she added.

“I went to film them as a family and I couldn’t believe how hard they worked. We were there for seven hours and they were gonna tape another seven hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work.”

By comparison, Lindsay Lohan and her reality TV show for Oprah’s OWN network was not so successful due more or less to Lilo’s inability to be a good reality TV star, according to Oprah.

She said Lohan was “uncomfortable” during filming: “She’s one of those people who said, ‘oh yes, sure, I’ll have the cameras follow me’ and then when you realize how much work that really is…you know how much acting you got to do to make it look real?” Winfrey commented.

Winfrey was commenting on the Kardashians and their talent in response to Wilson’s put down of the reality TV family last week, in which she said to Kyle and Jackie O in part that “They’re famous for no talent.” The Pitch Perfect actress actually refused to present an award with Kylie and Kendall Jenner at the MTV Music Video Awards in August, and further commented:

What they stand for is totally against what I stand for. They seem a bit superficial and their careers aren’t really based on talent. I know they’re super popular, but I’m all about personality and working hard to get to where I am. How Kim Kardashian got famous from the sex tape and I just went to acting school and worked really hard…

Yup. She went there.
