Glamour’s Woman of the Year Caitlyn Jenner Finds Happiness in the F-Word

But probably not the one that you’re thinking of.

Caitlyn Jenner was honored as Glamour’s Woman of the Year last night (Nov. 9) at the magazine’s 2015 Women of the Year awards. Stunning in an off-the-shoulder Moschino gown, the I Am Cait star was presented her accolade by actress Judith Light, whom Jenner referred to as an avid supporter of the LGBT community. “Having you present this to me tonight means so much to me and our community,” she told Light.

“When it comes to gender,” Jenner continued. “Everyone in this room is on a journey. We are constantly learning and growing as human beings learning about ourselves, but there is a second part of this population when it comes to gender. There is massive confusion deep down inside.”

Jenner explains that one of the goals of her transition has been to push past her own confusion and to live her life happily as her most authentic self. “I always felt as an outsider,” she told the Glamour audience. “I never felt good on the male side and I wasn’t obviously on the female side. I was kind of stuck in the middle, but all of a sudden, after making this decision and coming out, it was by far the best thing I ever did.”

The Woman of the Year describes that she finds this zest for life in small, everyday things that most would find arbitrary.

“Finally, last week I got my driver’s license and gender marker F … I am sitting on the plane for the first time reading Glamour magazine and not having to fold over the cover so no one can see what I was actually reading, and I had it opened up beautifully and just reading through Glamour magazine was absolutely great.”

Kylie Jenner was in attendance to support the female icon, dressed down in a denim jacket after having suffered “major wardrobe malfunctions” before arriving to the event.
