Lamar Odom Is ‘Doing Better’ and ‘Off of All Machines,’ Says Khloé Kardashian
Things are looking up for Lamar Odom.
According to Khloé Kardashian, the former NBA star’s health is improving as he continues to recover at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13.
“He’s definitely doing better, which is awesome,” the 31-year-old tells Extra. “Every day is better, he’s off of all machines that, he is alive on his own, and no machines are helping him, which is great, but he still has a lot of physical and cognitive therapy to go through, so it’s a long road for him.”
“It’s gonna be a long long time. Every day is different — some days he’s really strong, and some days he’s weaker than the day before ’cause it’s mentally draining, I’m sure, on him,” she continues.
Kardashian, who canceled her book tour and withdrew her divorce papers to be by the 36-year-old basketball player’s bedside, reveals that the next step for Odom is to regain his mobility after he had suffered multiple strokes.
“He will try to learn how to walk… so that is first,” she says. “When he can support himself on his own, or physically try to walk better on his own or at least with an assistance, with, like, a walker, then he will probably leave the hospital and do a lot of cognitive and mental strengthening.”
Recently, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star opened up about her unconventional relationship with Odom to Redbook. Though the two are still legally married, Kardashian insisted they’re bound by law for “multitude of reasons. But intimacy is not one of them.”
“My biggest wish is for him to be happy,” she told the magazine. “I still have a great deal of love for him. That doesn’t mean I have to be by his side all the time.”
