Kim Kardashian Is Unsure If Lamar Odom Will ‘Ever Be the Same Again’
His health may be improving, but Lamar Odom’s fate is still hanging in the balance.
According to Kim Kardshian, the former NBA star has a “long road” ahead of him after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel from an apparent overdose. Though Lamar, 36, has overcome the odds and avoided a kidney transplant, he is said to be struggling with his mobility as he recuperates at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
“He’s here and he’s alive, but to say it’s not a long road and to say he’s fully better is not the truth either,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star says in an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “He has a lot of work to do and a lot of communication therapy and having to learn to walk again and to talk again. You never know if he’ll ever be the same again.”
Though Lamar’s wife, Khloé Kardashian, has made it clear that they’re not getting back together despite calling off their divorce, Kim, 35, insists that the basketball player will always be a part of their clan and that they’ll do whatever it takes to help him recover.
“Lamar is family and he’ll always be family, we’ll always do what we can to help take care of him, and protect him, and be there for him,” she explains. “It’s a really unfortunate, sad situation all the way around the board, and I just encourage people to keep on praying because the road is nowhere near over.”
Echoing her sister’s words, Khloé, 31, also spoke about her family’s unwavering support for Lamar on her recent appearance on Ellen, telling the host Ellen DeGeneres that even her current boyfriend, James Harden, has been understanding of their “unique” situation.
“I love him and I always will and he’s a fantastic person who deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side and for me I’m that to him,” Khloé said of Lamar. “And Thank God I have a fantastic family who loves me and loves him just as much. And they’re so supportive and they’re with me and I have a great boyfriend who’s understanding.”
