Don’t let his big stature fool you. When talking about his daughter, even The Rock is reduced to tears.
Dwayne Johnson stopped by Oprah’s Master Class series to talk about the subject of family, and what it means to him.
As a kid, he said he had a problem with relationships. “This is the kid who grew up an only child, who shouldered all the family’s problems. It’s that kid who had a hard time with relationships, to this man today. So, yeah, the smile is real when I think about that,” he said. “And I realized being a father is the greatest job I have ever had, the greatest job I will ever have.”
When Simone was born, The Rock said he promised he would always take care of her. “Throughout the years, throughout the up sand downs, I’ve realized that the most important thing that I could do with my daughter, is lead our life with love. Not success, not fame, not anything else, but ‘I’m always here for you. I love you.'”
One particular memory stood out to Johnson when he talked to his daughter. “I’m like, ‘Whats the one thing you love most about our relationship?’ and she said ‘Well, that I trust you.’ And for a 13-year-old girl to say that to her dad… considering where I was at 13 and the instability I had, and she said ‘Well, that I trust you, and that we have a very special bond,’ and that moved me, and so, you know, at 13 she’s saying that, and you know, I couldn’t ask for anything else. I love that girl.”
