Gwen Stefani Is Happy Her Divorce from Gavin Rossdale Has Inspired Her Music
Gwen Stefani is opening up about her “life journey,” which as of late has been highly discussed in the media due to the allegations that her ex Gavin Rossdale cheated on her for three years with their nanny.
If anything, these life experiences have heavily impacted her music writing for the better.
The Voice host said in a radio interview with The Tommy Show this morning that she’s okay because she’s got her music. “I’m in such a great place because I’ve been writing music, and for me that’s… everything that I love about being alive because I haven’t been able to do it for so long,” she commented.
“Even when I would try, like, nothing would happen, but I have a feeling that I was just blessed with this opportunity to have this channel open up again. If you don’t think it’s ever going to happen again and it does, it’s even that much better.”
As for her older music, Stefani notes how she’s changed from her divorce
It’s almost the opposite because of my situation right now, which we all know what I’m talking about…I feel like I go back and listen to a lot of that stuff, and I get sick. You look at the song and you go ‘That was a red flag. That was a moment where I was feeling just as bad as I feel today and why did I keep it up?’
Stefani and Rossdale, who were together for 20 years, married for 13, and share three children together, did confess she wishes her divorce “didn’t happen.”
…I wish that all of this wasn’t happening but at the same time, I feel like it was part of my life journey. In my life I’ve had two really bad heartbreaks and I’ve written some incredible music out of it and I feel so lucky to have that and to be able to share it. I feel like it’s part of what I contribute to the world and I feel really proud of that. There’s always good things that come out of bad things.
When faced with the question of whether or not she’ll be touring in the near future, the “Used to Love You” singer said, “it’s hard” because she has three kids. “I don’t know how to put three wild animals on a tour bus,” she said. “I took them to one show recently on a plane and in a hotel room and it was chaos. I think there’s a way I could figure it out and I’d love to do it.”
As for her new relationship with fellow Voice host Shelton, the station attempted to sneak in a question about her feelings for him by playing a game of “Marry, Kiss, Beat Up” with him and her other coaches Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams. She commented, “I don’t think I would beat any of them up, that’s for sure. I love all of them.”
