Jennifer Lawrence Plans to Direct, Thanks Drunk Amy Schumer for Dragging Her on Billy Joel’s Piano
That’s what friends are for!
“Amy is the sh*t,” Lawrence tells Entertainment Weekly, explaining that Schumer almost bailed on a rehearsal with the legendary singer back in August. The comedienne invited Lawrence to join her onstage with the fair warning that, “If you try to leave, I’ll grab onto you and keep grabbing onto you until the end of the song.”
Though this dream has been realized, the Hunger Games actress reveals that she has yet another goal in mind.“I’d also like to direct a comedy,” she says. “I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act. I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it.”
Spoiler Alert: She is. Lawrence has signed on to direct a film called Project Delirium based on an article about mental warfare in the 1960s, which she describes as “an acid experiment gone terribly wrong”.
“I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”
The piano-dancing BFFs have co-written a forthcoming film in which they portray sisters—Schumer as a career-driven flight attendant and Lawrence as an absolute “mess”.
