Will Smith on Jada Pinkett Smith: ‘Marriage Is the Most Difficult, Grueling, Excruciating Thing’

Will Smith Rips Divorce Rumors
Don't mess with Will Smith and his Queen.

In other words, marriage isn’t always easy.

Will Smith opened up about his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith, admitting that even though they’ve had their ups and downs, he and his wife are not quitters. At the Los Angeles premiere of his film Concussion on Monday (Nov. 23, 2015), the 47-year-old spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how they keep their relationship so strong.

We’ve been married 20 years and we’ve been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting. You can’t expect it to be easy, it’s like our marriage was the most difficult, grueling, excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives. And you know were just not quitters.

After rumors starting circulating that the couple were on the rocks, the actor immediately took it upon himself to squash any speculation the he and Jada were on their way to a divorce. He also revealed what he believes to be the secret to maintaining a good marriage.

If there is a secret I would say is that we never went into working in our relationship. We only ever worked on ourselves individually, and then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously.

If you’ve ever seen Will and Jada’s birthday wishes to each other on Facebook, you’ll know that they are more in love than ever.
