Adele Dominated the BBC Music Awards with ’25’

Taylor Swift and Hozier fared well too.

Adele’s comeback album 25 has been out for not even a month yet, and it’s already winning all the awards.

The true queen was crowned British artist of the year and took home the award for best BBC live performance of the year for her recent BBC One special at the BBC Music Awards in Birmingham last night (Dec. 10).

The “Hello” singer beat out Ed Sheeran, Jamie XX, Florence and The Machine, Foals, and Years & Years to win British Artist of the Year, presented by Rod Stewart.

The hit-maker wasn’t present at the awards show, however, because she is currently in the States promoting 25. She gave her acceptance speech over a video message, commenting, “Sorry I’m not there, I’m absolutely gutted but thanks so much for my award. Thank you so, so much. I hope you’re all having a wonderful night.”

Swift picked up the award for International Artist Of The Year, but also couldn’t be present due to her 1989 touring commitments. She sent her video message from Australia, telling fans:

I wish I could be with you right now but I’m on tour in Australia.

Thank you so much for this BBC Music Award for International Artist of the Year. It was an amazing highlight of the year for me getting to play Big Weekend in Norwich. You guys have been so supportive and wonderful. Thank you so much, it’s amazing.

Hozier won for song of the year, decided by public vote, for “Take Me to Church.”
