WATCH: Kate Middleton Rocks out on the Drums with Children at Mental Facility Christmas Party
This will make your heart grow three times its size.
Kate Middleton dropped in on the Anna Freud Centre, a specialized mental institution for children in North London, to spread holiday cheer directly from Buckingham Palace. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a recycled, yet timeless red Alexander McQueen dress to play Queen’s classic “We Will Rock You” on West African goatskin Djembe drums in a circle with the kids.
“She had such good rhythm,” says facility instructor Jude Winwood to The Daily Mail, who coached the children for five weeks on how to play the drums. “She was thrown in at the deep end but I gave her a few clues, hand signals. She knew what was required of her.”
“The visit reflects the Duchess’ continued interest in child mental health issues and the importance of early intervention and working with the whole family to provide children with in-school mental health services,” a Kensington Palace spokeswoman tells Us Weekly.
“Her Royal Highness is keen to draw attention to the ways in which this charity is working to lead a step change in children’s and young people’s mental health care.”
Middleton also worked on a craft of a huge Christmas tree collage with the young boys and girls, giving one new friend a high five after they bonded over their shared favorite soccer team.
