Update: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ to End Next Year, Says Marlene King

So long Rosewood!

When Pretty Little Liars returns for the second half of season 6 in January, it promises to be bigger and badder than ever, but it might not be around much longer. Speaking to Variety, creator Marlene King revealed she plans for season 7 to be the Liars last, “I think that this story when we’re back will end next year at the at end of Season 7.”

When asked, “So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7, and don’t want it to go beyond that?” King, who at one point hinted at a possible movie, replied, “Correct.”

Update — Dec. 23, 10:45 a.m. ET:

Early this morning, King took to Twitter to clarify her comments, claiming she never said the show was ending.

ABC Family has yet to comment on an official end date for it’s most popular TV show.

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 6B returns Jan. 12, when ABC Family becomes Freeform.
