Sri Lankan President Enraged After Women Throw Bras at Enrique Iglesias During Concert

Enrique Iglesias is leaving Sri Lanka with a bang.

The president of Sri Lanka is very unhappy with the singer after his rowdy Sex and Love concert (to repeat: it is his Sex and Love tour).

Ladies in the audience threw their bras at the singer and rushed up to kiss him during his first live show in the country, outraging President Maithripala Sirisena. He even called for the promoters of the show to be “beaten with poisonous stingray tails.”

He said publicly after Iglesias’ Dec. 20 concert in the capital of Colombo, “This is most uncivilized behavior that goes against our culture. I don’t advocate that these uncivilized women who removed their brassieres should be beaten with poisonous stingray tails, but those who organized such an event should be.”

Here’s Iglesias dodging a bra:

And a video from the concert:

According to media reports, whipping with the tails of stingrays was used criminals in medieval Sri Lanka, and today is an expression for severe punishment.

Because of this bra-throwing incident, the president says the restrictions on pop concerts will be stricter in the future. “I want to stress that these indecent concerts should never receive authorization again in Sri Lanka,” he said.

In addition, President Sirisena found issue with the high cost of tickets, which ranged from 5,000 rupees ($35) to 50,000 rupees ($350).
