Makeup-Free Monday: Miss Universe Philippines Pia Wurtzbach and 162 More Celebrities Go All Natural
Miss Universe is taking last week’s competition crowning flub in stride!
Miss Philippines 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, posted a gorgeous photo on Twitter her first day on the job. The night before (Dec. 20), Miss Universe host Steve Harvey created an awkward and controversial debacle when he announced the wrong winner – first runner up, Miss Colombia – at the pageant’s finale.
She wrote on Twitter: My 1st day as #MissUniverse has officially begun! Starting it off fresh-faced and #ConfidentlyBeautiful 👑”

She also posted a photo of all the ladies in the final five, congratulating them on their success:
The 26-year-old beauty in a separate post, “It was an honor and a privilege to have so many deserving contestants compete on stage Sunday night. #MissUniverse.”
On the moment in which she thought she lost to Ariadna Gutierrez, Wurtzbach told ET, “I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on. I had to ask my [manager] many times like, ‘Did I really win? Am I really Miss Universe? Are you going to take the crown from me now?’ “
Gutierrez broke her silence following the mistake last week as well, writing on Instagram a heartfelt note that read in part, “After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes…”
