Update: Craig Strickland Found Dead After 7 Day Search
The country singer was just 29.
After a week-long search, Craig Strickland, lead singer of the Backroad Anthem, was found dead. Strickland’s wife Helen, confirmed the news on Twitter.
#CraigStrickland was found today. He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen.

The singer went missing after he and his friend Chase Morland left on a duck hunting trip in the middle of Storm Goliath. Morland, just 21 years old, was found dead on Dec. 28, 2015. Morland eerily predicted the tragedy tweeting hours before the fateful trip, “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm.”
Our thoughts are with Strickland’s family and friends.
Update — Jan. 4, 5:20 p.m. ET:
TMZ reports Strickland’s body was found “lying in the shape of a cross.” According to Strickland’s wife Helen, the singer was able to make his way ashore after his boat capsized, but he ultimately died of hypothermia. “They found him lying in the shape of a cross looking up to his Father,” she said. “I know he found Jesus at that moment.”
