Lea Michele Thinks Cory Monteith ‘Would Love’ Her Boyfriend Matthew Paetz

The actress thinks her late boyfriend would be happy for her.

Lea Michele was devastated when her on and off-screen boyfriend Cory Monteith passed away from an accidental drug overdose in 2013. Now, more than two years later, Michele has been able to find love with actor Matthew Paetz, and she believes Monteith would be happy for her.

Michele sat down for an interview with the hosts of the Fempire podcast, including best friend and Glee costar Becca Tobin, where she dished on her relationship with Paetz. “We’ve stood by each other through anything that was thrown our way,” she revealed.  “[Matt] is a such a great man that he would never really let anything like that ever crack our lovely little core that we’ve created.”

Michele goes on to reveal one of the things she loves the most about her beau, “He is very respectful towards the person that I was with, and that, again, is something I love so much about him,” Michele said, adding, “I really know that Cory would love him too.”

And as for haters who aren’t fans of her new relationship? “They don’t know my private life, so I understand that people are going to say whatever they are going to say [but] as long and he and I are good, my family’s good, my friends are good, that’s all that matters.”
