Jacob Tremblay From ‘Room’ Receives First-Ever Award at National Board of Review Gala
Awards season can get pretty silly. All the awards and speeches and behind-the-scenes hoopla can make even the most dedicated movie lover cynical sometimes. But every now and then magic happens, and we’re reminded why it’s so fun to watch.
Such was the case Tuesday night when nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay accepted the National Board of Review breakthrough actor award for his performance in Room and delivered the most touching acceptance speech you’ll hear this year.
“This is really something,” he exclaimed. “The mind of me right now is so blown.”
The talented young performer told the rapt audience that this award was extra special for him.
“I’ve never won an award on anything else. This is my first,” he said.
Naturally, the crowd went wild.
