2016 Golden Globes: Let’s Round Up All the People Ricky Gervais Has Offended

This sharp-tongued Brit is always throwing shade!

This year is the fourth time Ricky Gervais has hosted the Golden Globes and it’s clear he plans to leave an impression, but it may not be a good one.

It appears no one is beyond the scope of Ricky’s biting humor. The host discussed Caitlyn Jenner’s inspirational role in the trans community, also stating that Jenner failed to improve the reputation of female drivers. This is of course a reference to Caitlyn’s tragic car wreck on Pacific Coast Highway in February that resulted in one death.

But wait, there’s more. Gervais also threw some shade at Sean Penn. The acerbic host called the award-winning actor a “snitch” after a Rolling Stone article was released detailing the actor’s interview with Mexican cartel kingpin “El Capo,” Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera.

The star of the British Office also shaded Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer. Gervais named the two actresses Charlie Sheen’s “two favorite hookers.” He even nicknamed Lawrence and Schumer “Joy and Trainwreck.”

Oh, and who didn’t get uncomfortable when Gervais introduced Matt Damon!? Not only did he refer to Damon’s box office and critical success The Martian as a comedy, he also took a shot at Damon’s longtime friendship with Ben Affleck.

“It’s the star of the hilarious comedy The Martian. He is also the only person that Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to.”

Awkward. Very awkward, Ricky.
