Unsurprisingly, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Leads 2016 Razzie Award Nominations

To the surprise of no one, Fifty Shades of Grey is amongst the four most nominated movies at this year’s Razzie Awards.

The Razzies, which celebrate the year’s worst Hollywood movies and actors by awarding the winners (i.e. the losers) with Golden Raspberries, have awards for Worst Picture, Worst Actress and Worst Actor. And this year, it’s a four-way tie between Fifty ShadesPaul Blart Mall Cop 2Jupiter Ascending and Pixels leading the nominations with six nods each. All four films are also nominated for Worst Picture, in addition to this year’s box-office bomb Fantastic Four

Fifty Shades lovers Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who are both set to return for the sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, are nominated in the Worst Actor, Worst Actress, and Worst Screen Combo categories, while Jupiter Ascending stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis are up for Worst Actor and Worst Actress, respectively.

Julianne Moore, who won Best Actress for Still Alice at last year’s Academy Awards, is up for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in Seventh Son, while Eddie Redmayne, last year’s Best Actor for The Theory of Everything at the Academy Awards, is nominated for Worst Supporting Actor for Jupiter Ascending.

Sylvester Stallone, named Worst Actor of the Century in 2000 and Razzie regular, is up for the Razzie Redeemer Award this year for his role in Creed (for which he won Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Golden Globes).

Lastly, the most-nominated person at this year’s Razzies is Kevin James. He’s up for Worst Actor, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Combo (for his Segway and glued-on moustache) for his work on Paul Blart Mall Cop 2, and Worst Supporting Actor for his role in Pixels.

The 2016 Razzie Awards will be held on Feb. 27, a day before the 88th Academy Awards.
