GossipCop reports that a rep for the band says that the rumor of a permanent split has no merit. Yet.

Five months after collective heartthrob One Direction announced an extended hiatus in March, the band is reportedly splitting for good according to an inside source. Us Weekly reports that Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne decided “not to renew their recording contract” after their tour came to a close in October. “The 1D thing just ran its course,” says the source. “They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”

While Payne is allegedly dropping rap verses in the studio with Juicy J for an upcoming solo album, another source says that the other guys want to try new projects. “Liam is really interested in songwriting and production,” they say. The first source adds, “Harry is launching a career in acting and singing.”

Meanwhile, Tomlinson is expecting his first child with his stylist “friend” Briana Jungwirth in the new year, and none of the guys are returning Zayn Malik’s calls.

“The truth is I haven’t spoken to any of the boys at all really, I spoke to Liam [Payne] a bit and that’s just the way it is,” he tells L’Uomo Vogue in the “Big in 2016″ issue. “I tried to reach out and be their friend but they haven’t even replied to any of my calls or texts.”
