Steven Avery’s Other Ex-Fiancée Sandy Greenman Says ‘He’s Innocent’
It’s a case of she said, she said.
While Steven Avery’s ex-fiancée, Jodi Stachowski, has gone on record that she thinks the Making a Murderer subject is “not innocent” in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach, the convict’s other former lover is claiming that he did not kill the young photographer.
Sandy Greenman, who started dating Avery, 53, after he was imprisoned for allegedly killing Halbach and was featured the Netflix docu-series about the crime, tells Dr. Phil that her ex did not commit murder. Though she’s no longer romantically involved with Avery as he would not convert to Christianity for her, the 73-year-old is still throwing her support for him.
“I personally believe that he’s innocent,” said in a new interview, which will air on Jan. 15. “I needed to show him that I was behind him.”
Greenman’s comments are the opposite of what Stachowski recently said in a Nancy Grace interview, where she insisted that Avery is “not innocent” and that she “ate two boxes of rat poison” to “get away from him.”
Stachowski, who preached about Avery’s innocence on Making a Murderer, claimed that Avery had coerced her into lying on film.
“He told me how to act,” Stachowski said. “[He told me] ‘Smile, be happy’ — it was all lies.”
When asked if she believes that Avery had murdered the 25-year-old Halbach, Stachowski proclaimed, “Yes, I do.” She then added, “Because he threatened to kill me and my family and a friend of mine.”
