Guy Ritchie Reportedly Disproves of Madonna’s ‘Stern’ and ‘Counterproductive’ Parenting Style
Talk about different parenting styles.
According to People magazine, Guy “wants Rocco to have the confidence he lacked growing up and thinks Madonna’s stern parental style is counterproductive,” noting that Rocco struggled with severe dyslexia as a child.
The source added, “the welfare of Rocco is Guy’s priority.”
Rocco had spent the last three months traveling with Madonna on her world tour for Rebel Heart. In December, he refused to return to the States for the holidays and opted to stay in London with his dad. He’s since been ordered by a judge to return back to New York for a custody hearing.
A source close to the singer alleges that Rocco has missed school and has yet to return to New York. According to a Ritchie source, the 15-year-old thinks his Manhattan private school is “elitist,” and he misses spending time with his friends in London.
However, contrary to some tabloid reports, People debunks that Rocco isn’t remaining in London because of a girlfriend. “There’s nobody serious he’s dating at the moment,” the Ritchie source made sure to say.
The custody battle appears to stem from a “power struggle” between the former couple, who divorced in 2008. A source told People last week, “This is far beyond a situation about Rocco – it’s about a situation between Madonna and Guy. They don’t have a good relationship; it’s more of a power fight between them and if he can one-up her. This is the best way he can do it.”
