John Krasinski Explains Why Sitting at Leonardo DiCaprio’s Golden Globes Table Was Really Awkward
John Krasinski gets real about sitting at the “cool” table.
The actor opened up to Ellen DeGeneres on Friday (Jan. 15, 2016) about going to the 2016 Golden Globes without his wife, Emily Blunt, and as a result being seated at Leonardo DiCaprio’s table. However, the experience wasn’t nearly as cool as it sounds. “It turns out when you go stag, they put you at a great table,” he explained. “And that sounds really cool except I didn’t get a chance to meet him, and I didn’t want to be like, ‘Hey man, I’m the guy who doesn’t have anybody!'”
Things got even more awkward for the 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi star when almost the entire table started winning awards for their work on The Revenant. “So I’m in the middle of hugs and people are like this is the best year ever and I was like, ‘Wasn’t it?’ And then everybody went up and gave their speech I felt really pretty stupid.”
That’s not even the worst part. Krasinski revealed he had another moment with director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. “When he won he said hi to everyone and thank you because they all worked on the movie,” he continued. “And then turned to me and there was that moment of like, ‘Why are you here?’ and I was like, ‘Congratulations!'”
Poor guy! He will definitely never go stag to an awards show ever again. Check out the video above to hear his hilarious story. In it, he also opens about his 2-year-old daughter Hazel and his terrifying under water experience with his wife.
