Instant Follow Friday: The Beautiful and Talented ‘Creed’ Starlet Tessa Thompson
Tessa Thompson is the actress to watch in 2016.
The 32-year-old LA native is reportedly in talks to star alongside Natalie Portman and Gina Rodriguez in Annihilation, a film that sounds completely awesome on many levels, according to The Wrap. The project of Ex Machinas director Alex Garland, Annihilation is an adaptation of Jeff VaderMeer’s novel of the same name, which follows a quartet of women (an anthropologist, a surveyor, a psychologist, the de facto leader and a biologist) who embark on a risky mission “where the laws of nature don’t apply.” Filming is expected to begin this spring.
You may remember Thompson as the star of Justin Simien’s 2014’s satirical drama Dear White People, in which she played a bi-racial film production major at a prestigious, predominately white university who stirs up the status quo with her outspoken radio show. She also had a supporting role in Ava DuVernay’s astounding 2014 film Selma playing American civil rights activist Diane Nash.
