Celine Dion’s Brother Daniel Dies After Battle with Cancer
More sad news for Celine Dion.
Just two days after her husband René Angélil passed away, the singer has now lost her brother Daniel. He was 59. His death was confirmed on Saturday (Jan. 16, 2016) hours after it was revealed he was suffering from cancer of the throat, tongue, and brain. Following his death Celine’s sister Claudette told the Journal de Montréal that her brother was serene at the end. “He was ready and his suffering is over,” she told the newspaper.
The Canadian singer has not commented about her brother, however, earlier this morning, she revealed that her husband’s funeral will be held next Friday (Jan. 22, 2016) at Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica, the same church the two were married in 1994.
“21 years ago, he chose to marry the one who will remain as the great love of his life, the artist for which he had the most respect, the woman who gave him light and happiness until his very last breath,” a statement by the family spokesman read.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Celine and her family.
