Céline Dion Set to Perform in Vegas the Day After Her Husband’s Funeral

Céline Dion is coping with the tragic back-to-back losses of her brother and her husband, René Angélil, through the power of performance.

She is currently scheduled to make her way back to the Caesar’s Palace stage on Saturday, Jan. 23, which is the day after her husband’s funeral service at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal.

“That’s what René would want. He wants her to perform and come back,” a source told People. “He knew her better than anybody and he probably knows that’s what she needs too, to perform.”

Angélil passed away on Jan. 14 at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer. Dion’s brother Daniel lost his battle to cancer only two days later.

“René was the most brilliant, generous and loyal partner one could have in business,” said AEG Live Las Vegas Vice President John Nelson in a statement. “And after the work was done, René was such a fun and joyful friend who loved to entertain, eat amazing meals, and tell great stories. There will never be another one like René.”
