Brie Larson on Her Newfound Fame: I’m ‘Totally Outside of My Comfort Zone’
The Golden Globe-winner talked about the overwhelming, exhilarating ride that is overnight success in Hollywood.
Brie Larson recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the buzz surrounded her acclaimed performance in Room and her first brushes with stardom. “Every single step of this last year has been a completely new experience, and one that is totally outside of my comfort zone,” she said.
The 26-year-old even stated that her recent fame in many ways parallels the harrowing story in the film in which she stars. “I can’t help but trip out about how similar my life is to Room. It’s me wanting to stay in my own little bubble and remain anonymous and invisible and at the same time needing to step up to this hand that I’ve been given.”
Before taking on the terrifying role of a young mother trapped in a room with her son, Judd Apatow tapped her to play Amy Schumer’s younger sister in Trainwreck, which made the transition to the troubling subject matter easier. “I thought, ‘Before I go away and be a monk, I’ll do this fun thing, laugh my ass off and eat whatever I want,'” Larson said.
It’s easy to see why audiences and critics are falling for the fun, young actress!
