For the second day on Friday, Canadian singer, Celine Dion donned all black to attend a beautiful public funeral for her late husband of 21 years, René Angélil.

Angélil lost a battle with cancer at the age of 73 on January 14, 2016 and on Friday, January 22, 2016, Dion held an open casket public funeral at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal, the same parish where the two were married 21 years ago.

Joined by her 14-year-old son, René Charles, and twin five-year-old boys, Nelson and Eddy, Celine personally greeted well-wishers who lined up to pay their respects for hours.

René Charles spoke at the service, which was attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, and federal Heritage Minister Mélanie Jol.

The young man said of his later father:

You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers. As they grow older without you being around, I’ll make sure to pass on what I’ve learned from you. You are a tough act to follow but with our help everything is going to be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we’re all going to live up to your standards. Je t’aime Papa.
