Here’s a Friendly Reminder That Mischa Barton Exists

In case you are interested, Mischa Barton, the complicated star and ingenue of the hit 2000’s show The OC, was spotted out in Los Angeles, and ironically photographed in front of a sign requesting “no photos, please.”

The actress stepped out to LA celebrity hotspot The Nice Guy last night (Jan. 25), which happened to be a day after her 30th birthday. Her sighting reminds us not only that she exists, but that we’re all old, too.

Barton starred on The OC from 2003 until 2006, when she was killed off in the third season finale. Entertainment Weekly’s “It Girl” of 2003 and Glamour’s “Next Big Thing,” her sudden fame and influence during the mid–’00s was undeniable.

After her run on The OC ended, Barton was embattled with a number of legal troubles. She was charged with two misdemeanors in 2007: driving without a license and a DUI; was put under a 5150 psychiatric hold in 2009 after events with nurses following a tooth infection; in 2010, she was sued by her landlord for refusing to pay three months rent (at $7,000 a month); most recently in 2015, she sued her mother for “breach of contract” and “theft” over a house they own in Beverly Hills.

And now here we are, a decade later.
