Justin Bieber Thinks Hailey Baldwin Is ‘Just a Friend He Kisses,’ Says He Doesn’t Want to ‘Hurt Her’

Even though he admittedly loves her, Justin Bieber isn’t ready to get serious with Hailey Baldwin.

In his latest interview with GQ, the 21-year-old singer explains the true nature of his relationship with Kendall Jenner’s BFF. Though they hang out together a lot — the reporter notes that Baldwin, 19, was sitting on Bieber’s bed “doing nothing” as the “Sorry” crooner finished his sit-down — and have been photographed kissing each other, Bieber claims they are currently not dating.

When the interviewer asks Bieber if Baldwin is “just a friend he kisses,” the Canadian singer agrees that their relationship is strictly platonic.

“Uh-huh,” he says. “I guess so.”

Bieber adds that Baldwin is “someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together.”

For Bieber, he believes that he’s too busy to settle down at the moment. While he says he would “love” to be married someday, he’s simply not in a position to do so — especially since he’s already dealing with anxiety from taking Adderall these days.

“I don’t want to put anyone in a position where they feel like I’m only theirs, only to be hurt in the end.” says Bieber. Right now in my life, I don’t want to be held down by anything. I already have a lot that I have to commit to. A lot of responsibilities. I don’t want to feel like the girl I love is an added responsibility.”

“I know that in the past I’ve hurt people and said things that I didn’t mean to make them happy in the moment. So now I’m just more so looking at the future, making sure I’m not damaging them,” he continues, explaining why he hasn’t made it official with Baldwin just yet. “What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged. It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard … I just don’t want to hurt her.”

So, what of Selena Gomez, the on-again, off-again girlfriend who Bieber claims inspired “a lot” of his songs on Purpose? Though he confesses that their breakup was a “bad” one, he insists their relationship is now on “good” terms.

“We don’t talk often, but we’re cordial,” he explains. “If she needs something, I’m there for her. If I need something, she’s there for me.”

Similarly, Gomez told Rolling Stone that she’s “so beyond done” with Bieber.

However, not everything is a sad love story in Bieber’s life.

He recently appeared on Ellen to help the talk show host give away half a million dollars to Spain Elementary Middle School in Detroit. He also vowed to donate $1 from every concert ticket sold from his Detroit tour date to the school.
