Fox has greenlit a single-camera comedy from Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad. She’ll be starring, exec producing and writing Chad: An American Boy. Nasim will be playing an average 14-year-old boy coming to terms with his hormones when he’s forced to become the household’s breadwinner. [The Hollywood Reporter]
HBO and Alex Gibney have a drama centered around death row inmates in the works and Laura Dern has been attached to star and executive produce. Gibney is known for his documentaries including Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief and Sinatra: All or Nothing at All. Dern will play a psychiatrist who must determine if death row inmates are sane enough to die at the hands of the state. This doesn’t sound like casual viewing. [Deadline]
