With awards season winding down, production on countless films is ramping up. There’s new roles on the way for Hamilton star Lu-Manuel Miranda, Shannara Chronicles starlet Poppy Drayton, and more!

Michael B. Jordan will be starring in a remake of the Thomas Crown Affair. Although there is no writer or director currently attached, Jordan’s involvement should give the project legs. The talented young actor will play a wealthy businessman who also happens to be a talented thief. [The Wrap]

If you haven’t heard of the new musical Hamilton, then you’re likely in hiding somewhere. The acclaimed show’s creator and star, Lu-Manuel Miranda, is in talks to join Disney’s sequel to Mary Poppins alongside Emily Blunt. Miranda is in negotiations to play Jack, a lamplighter, who sounds very similar to Bert, Dick Van Dyke’s role in the 1964 original. [Variety]

A new adaptation of A Little Mermaid has found its star. Poppy Drayton will play the beautiful sea creature and Loreto Peralta will play an orphan who finds her. This isn’t a Disney film, so it won’t have the musical panache you might have in mind. [The Wrap]
