As if women in Hollywood didn’t have it hard enough.

The Academy Award also known as the Oscar is highly regarded as the most prestigious award an actor can get. Without a doubt, everyone who’s ever been awarded an Oscar, life changes forever, but not in the way you might expect. There’s been talk of an Oscar Curse, in which an actor with a promising career wins an Academy Award, and then never achieves true stardom. But there’s another Oscar’s curse, one that only affects women.

The Oscar Love Curse is the superstition that the women who win Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress will either have her significant other, cheat on her or leave her altogether. So far since 1935, more than 40 women have fallen victim to the curse, including Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, and Julia Roberts.
