The Celebuzz’d Podcast, Episode 001: #OscarsSoWhite, #VelveetaSoWrong
Who has time to actually keep up with all of the celebrity news?
Oh right—we do, but that’s only because the tabloids consume our 9-5 and we’d otherwise be lost without Lady Gaga’s daily guidance. We decided to help you out with those awkward water cooler moments with a brand new podcast from Celebuzz that brings you the biggest stories from Hollywood in the time that it takes you to finish a drink. The best part about it is we’re drinking too, so raise your glass and let’s get to the gossip.
This week Celebuzz editors Mia Lardiere, Jelani Addams Rosa and Matt Russoniello enjoyed a “Best Dressed Blueberry” from Sparkling Ice. Here’s how you can make one to sip on while you listen to our chat:
- 4 oz. Blueberry Pomegranate Sparkling Ice
- 2 oz. Pomegranate Juice
- Pomegranate Seeds
- Add a splash of vodka or prosecco to make it a cocktail
Don’t worry—we got all of the Kardashian news out of the way at the get-go in a handy Kardashian Kountdown. Here’s we discussed:
Kim Kardashian shared the first picture of baby Saint, Kris Jenner was wasted at Jonathan Cheban’s birthday party, according to Khloe Kardashian, and Rob Kardashian lost a ‘few dozen pounds’, crediting a strict diet of no red meats and no carbs, workouts sessions with a personal trainer and Blac Chyna. Also, Kylie Jenner launched “Cooking with Kylie” on her app and Blac Chyna was not pleased. Kendall Jenner was honored with a Madame Tussaud’s wax figure with hands that are bigger than Blue Ivy Carter’s
In non-Kardashian news (can you imagine), Britney Spears accidentally sorta-endorsed Hillary Clinton and then took it back, Azealia Banks started a Twitter beef with Rihanna because she was bored, and Chrissy Teigen gave birth to her perfect cookbook.
Kesha was not released from her longterm contract with her producer, Dr. Luke, who allegedly sexually and emotionally abused her during their time working together. Taylor Swift then donated $250,000 to Kesha to assist with legal fees, but Demi Lovato tweeted that she wasn’t impressed by this gesture given that it was only a monetary effort rather than a motion of societal change. She backtracked on her commentary, but all was resolved when Lena Dunham penned a powerful essay on why this trial is so meaningful beyond Kesha’s singular case.
Finally, we discuss the #OscarsSoWhite boycott in response to the non-diverse ballot of nominees ahead of the 2016 Academy Awards and try to determine where the change needs to begin in order to make minorities more visible and appreciated on film.
And here’s a discussion topic for you and your friends to discuss over Happy Hour: What’s the deal with Velveeta cheese sneaking its way into all of the Kardashians’ recipes?
