Lady Gaga and Elton John Perform at Surprise Concert Ahead of Oscars

The Rocket Man was joined onstage by Mother Monster.

Elton John took the streets of West Hollywood, Calif. on Saturday (Feb. 27, 2016) with a surprise concert with none other than Lady Gaga. The legendary singer thanked the city for its support of his Oscar viewing parties, which has helped to raise millions of dollars for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Aside from performing a selection of his huge catalog of hits for those in and around the parking lot of the former Tower Records, one of the biggest highlights came when Lady Gaga joined him to perform 1974 hit “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”

Fans around the world were also able to enjoy the outdoor show, which was co-presented by AOL BUILD and BBVA Compass, as it was streamed live exclusively on AOL.com.

“Give it up for this wonderful man who’s inspired people for generations,” Gaga said after their performance. “Wonderful Crazy Night is a beautiful record. And thank you so much for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. We all appreciate it so much, E.”
