Lady Gaga, Like a True Queen, Got Matching Tattoos with Sexual Assault Survivors

Solidarity in survival and in ink.

Lady Gaga made a powerful statement on sexual assault during her recent Oscars performance of her nominated ballad “Til It Happens to You” (from The Hunting Ground) in which a group of 50 sexual assault survivors joined her onstage.

Yesterday, she revealed on Snapchat that she and the brave group of survivors made a pact to get a symbol of “unity” inked on their body in honor of their solidarity and survival:

Tweet me, survivors which way? 🔥

Of course Mother Monster held her end of the bargain, and got the tattoo by artist David Allen right next to her monster claw. And here are some of the others:

Gaga may not have taken home the Best Original Song award last Sunday (Feb. 29) but she without a doubt won the entire night and more, as her influence and support continues to forever radiate.

Allen also wrote on Instagram, “Honored to tattoo a symbol of “unity” on @ladygaga today. An image of solidarity for survivors of sexual assault”:

Gaga took to Instagram yesterday to share a series of sexual assault PSA’s, depicting instances that should be basic knowledge but often are not (women too often and unjustly know and experience this kind of behavior on a daily basis.

She posted them with the hashtags, “#FreeEveryWoman #FreeEveryMan #FreeKesha”:

Cheers to Lady Gaga for being an inspiration, and bringing light to the documentary The Hunting Ground, which is a documentary investigating the epidemic of campus rape.
