This Week in K-Pop: Mamamoo and Taemin Win Top Prizes, Chloe Grace Moretz Does ‘SNL Korea’

The 10 Best New Songs of the Week
The Kills, Charli XCX, Taemin, and More

Curious about K-pop but don’t know where to start? Longtime veteran of the most exciting genre in music? Just an all-around happy-go-lucky music lover in general? Well, you’ve come to the right place because it’s an exciting time in the world of K-pop.

Since we at Celebuzz! love any and all music, every week we’ll be taking a look back at the best things that happened in K-Pop. This week’s highlights include: Taemin, Chloë Grace Moretz, MamamooSoljiHani, and more.

Taemin

The crazy talented Taemin (of SHINee) took home four first place trophy for “Press Your Number,” the Bruno Mars-written lead single off his first solo album Press It: SBS MTV The Show, MBC MUSIC Show Champion, Mnet MCountdown, and KBS Music Bank

He broke GFriend’s four-week #1 streak on Music Bank for their song “Rough.” In addition, for the second week in a row, Press It has topped the album sales charts. Here he is driving everyone wild with his performance of “Press Your Number” on Inkigayo:

Mamamoo

We’re SUPER excited to report this one: Mamamoo took home the #1 prize for “You’re the Best” (from their first album Melting) on Inkigayo, their first ever win on a music program (!).

Watch their performance (and check out their on point outfits) from Show! Music Core below:

Chloë Grace Moretz

Okay, CGM isn’t a K-Pop star, but she is making a splash in Korea right now for her several TV appearances. First, she became the first American to speak in only Korean during her SNL Korea appearance.

In addition, The Little Mermaid actress also appeared on Entertainment Relay as well as a V app with Eric Nam, and is reported to have filmed Problematic Men. Lastly, she also took the best photos with Mamamoo and Taemin while backstage:

Fiestar

Fiestar released a teaser for their hot new music video “Mirror.” It’s all kinds of sexy:

Cosmic Girls

12-member group Cosmic Girls released a dance rehearsal music video for their new song “MO MO MO.” They’re pretty overwhelming due to the size of their group (who’s who…?) but in any case, dance rehearsal videos are always a fun watch:

SoljiHani

EXID’s Solji and Hani teamed up for a collaborative comeback with “Only One.” Watch the creative music video below:

Brave Girls

Brave Girls released their sexy, dance-heavy music video for “Deepened” three weeks ago. Everything from their ab-baring outfits to that deep House sound is perfection (plus, see their most recent live performance on Inkigayo here):

Ladies Code

Ladies’ Code performed their sultry and low-tempo song “Galaxy” on Inkigayo, matching in all-red satin ensembles. We were into it:

Beast

BEAST (aka B2st) are really keeping us on our feet with an excellent short video teaser for “Guess Who?,” their newest Japanese release.

B.A.P.

The boys of B.A.P. sounded excellent on performing their infectious new funky pop song “Feel So Good.” Watch their fun performance on Inkigayo below (and see their music video here):

Winner

Also feeling this new song by Winner, “Sentimental.” See their adorable dance below:

Jay Park

Former 2PM leader Jay Park is back with this hot new track “All I Wanna Do,” off his forthcoming EP Everything You Want. Listen to it here:

GFriend

Can someone explain the fascination and popularity behind GFriend? Anyways, in mid-February they became the first artist in 2016 to win Music Bank’s triple crown with their song “Rough.” Watch the schoolgirl uniform-clad group of six perform on Inkigayo below:

4Minute

ICYMI: 4Minute’s Skrillex-produced comeback song “Hate” is a certifiable banger that you should be listening to (still) if you are not already:
