Lady Gaga Explains Why She’ll Never Stop Defending Kesha, ‘She’s Being Very Publicly Shamed’
Lady Gaga will always be #TeamKesha
Gaga has been a loud and proud supporter of Kesha ever since the singers devastating New York State Supreme Court ruling, and now Gaga’s explaining why she will always support her. The Oscar-nominated singer spoke to Carson Daly on AMP Radio yesterday (Mar. 7, 2016) and made it clear that the public doesn’t know everything about the case.
“I think that people should just know that there’s so much more than what meets the eye in a case like that,” Gaga revealed. “I feel like she’s being very publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men. I just want to stand by her side because I can’t watch another woman that went through what I’ve been through suffer.”
Gaga, who admitted to being a victim of rape by someone in the industry, also touched on why other artist haven’t been as vocal as her. “I won’t put words in their mouths, but I think it is probably as scary for them as it is for me to see so much shaming happen to females in the business that are so talented because they’re just not in as much of a position of power as the people who are speaking up against them,” Gaga explained.
While Dr. Luke continues to deny the allegation against him, Gaga insists she will not rest until Kesha is free. “We’re going to shake the tree until that leaf that has Kesha on it falls. I care about her,” she said. “In any other business, if you were to report that anything happened to you to the human resources department, it would be dealt with. But we don’t have a human resources department. We don’t have a union as artists. We’re just fighting for ourselves. If we don’t stick together, our voices just won’t be heard.”
