Ben Affleck Discusses Jennifer Garner’s Revealing ‘Vanity Fair’ Interview About Their Marriage

How does Ben Affleck feel about his former wife laying out the private details of their marriage to the public?

The Batman actor offered commentary on Jennifer Garner’s recent interview with Vanity Fair in which he is romantically portrayed as a tragic and distant figure during their time together.

“Jen’s great,” he told The New York Times. “She’s a great person. We’re on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that’s the reality that I live in.”

Garner denied the rumor that their marriage was caused by Affleck’s infidelity with their nanny in her Vanity Fair piece, but mysteriously held fast to their reciprocal knowledge of each other’s secrets.

“He’s still the only person who really knows the truth about things,” she said. “And I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths.”

Affleck told the Times that he was given fair warning about Garner’s decision to speak out on their relationship.

“She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with. So she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it — I don’t want to do it again.’”

Despite the unfortunate ending to their marriage, Garner told Vanity Fair that she doesn’t regret their whirlwind romance. “He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that?” she offered. “He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy.”

“I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”
