WATCH: Gal Gadot Talks Scoring the Role of ‘Wonder Woman’

Gal Gadot feels like the “luckiest girl in the world” for nabbing the role of Wonder Woman.

Appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show (airing March 15), the gorgeous Israel-born actress opened up about auditioning for the role of Wonder Woman for the highly-anticipated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice movie (co-starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and many more), as well as the standalone film Wonder Woman (due out in 2017).

Gadot, 30, revealed she first read a scene for the role with director Zack Snyder without knowing what movie for which she was reading.

I did an audition, I didn’t know what I was auditioning for. And then they call to say that they want to camera test me with Ben [Affleck]. I said ‘Great, what am I testing for?’

Later that night, Snyder told her what the role was.

Same night, caught to Zack calls me, saying, ‘Well, I’m not sure if you have it in Israel but did you ever hear of Wonder Woman?’ Then I went dead for five seconds, came back to life, and tried to pull off my coolest voice, saying ‘Wonder Woman? Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard of her.

Gadot found out a couple weeks later when she turned her phone on after her plane landed, and she had 30 missed calls from her agents.

On having her own action figure/doll, she commented, “Oh my god! That’s crazy, I got one, not this one, but my daughter broke the head off it.”

Calling her four-year-old daughter Alma “the love of my life,” she recounted a story about being a positive role model for her daughter as a superhero in comparison to a princess.

A former soldier in the Israel Defense Forces and winner of Miss Israel 2004, Gadot has had roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and will also appear in Justice League Part One and Part Two.
