Melissa McCarthy is ‘Thrilled’ for ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival, But Won’t Be Returning to Stars Hallow
“I didn’t actually get asked to do it.”
Fans were ecstatic when Netflix announced Gilmore Girls was officially making a comeback, and the news just kept getting better when essentially the entire original cast signed on. But there’s one very important person who was missing, and after much speculation, it seems like she’ll be missing for good.
Melissa McCarthy sat down with E!, and revealed that while she is most likely not returning to Stars Hollow, she’ll definitely be watching. “I don’t think I am,” she said when asked about a Sookie St. James cameo. “I didn’t actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was.”
“I want to cook again. I want to put salt and then stir,” she continued. “That was seven years of my life and it was really great. I was proud of that show.”
Even though McCarthy won’t return, there’s no bad blood here, “I’m actually thrilled that it’s happening,” she admitted. “I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them.”
