TV Casting Update: Rainn Wilson Hits the Road, Isabella Gomez Takes It ‘One Day at a Time’

We’ve searched everywhere for the latest casting news and compiled all the stories you need to check out. There’s new roles on the way for Emily Browning, Isabella Gomez and Rainn Wilson!

Fans of Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods, listen up! Starz has a television adaptation in the works and they have found their Laura Moon: Emily Browning. For the uninitiated, the story follows old biblical gods and new modern gods locked in battle. Browning’s character is the wife of Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), an ex-con who becomes Mr. Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) bodyguard. Wednesday is also one of the old gods. The two take off on a journey to prepare for an epic face-off against the new deities. Sound confusing? Never fear! Filming begins next month, so you have plenty of time to try and read the novel. Newcomer Isabella Gomez has joined the cast of Netflix’s reboot of the classic sitcom One Day at a Time. The new iteration of the show will revolve around a Cuban-American family. Recently separated mom (Justina Machado) enlists the help of her own mother (Rita Moreno) to help her raise her nerdy, social justice advocate daughter Elena (Gomez) and her socially awkward son, who has yet to be cast. This is yet another example of Netflix not only upping the sheer amount of content they are creating, but diversifying the audiences they wish to appeal to. [The Wrap]

The Office favorite Rainn Wilson has signed on to join Cameron Crowe’s Showtime comedy Roadies. As you might have guessed, the show focuses on the folks who do the leg work on big, nationwide tours. Wilson will play Bryce Newman, a famous and egotistical musical journalist, which sounds perfect for him! The stellar cast already includes Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, and many more.
