Ben Affleck Reveals That His Massive Back Tattoo Is ‘Fake for a Movie’

That giant phoenix on his back is totally fake.

Ben Affleck revealed in a recent interview with Extra that his huge back tattoo is NOT at all real. After the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice star was spotted with a colorful tattoo, he was literally the talk of the town. Well, he told Mario Lopez it was all “fake for a movie” he was working on.

“I actually do have a number of tattoos, but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up,” he said. “They get sort of addictive, tattoos, after awhile.”

Unfortunately for the actor, not many people were find of the tat. Jennifer Lopez said it was “awful” and is ex-wife Jennifer Garner had a few things to say about his body art too.

“You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart,’” the Miracles from Heaven actress recently told Vanity Fair. “A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

We’re glad that got cleared up. Check out the gallery above to see photos of Ben and his back tattoo on the set of Live By Night.
