WATCH: Here’s How a Naked Henry Cavill Almost Lost His Role as Superman

When you gotta pee, you gotta pee.

Henry Cavill can’t be expected to be a superhero even on his days off, which is why it’s semi-excusable that he made a damn fool of himself prior to setting foot on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Cavill stopped by Late Night to recall his “barely there” incident to Seth Meyers from the night that he arrived in L.A. to meet with the film’s director Zack Snyder and his new personal trainer.

“I had landed in L.A., dropped my bags off at the hotel, met my agent for dinner and a drink and then went to bed,” recounted Cavill. “I passed out a bit jet lagged and I woke up to the sound of my door closing in my hotel room. Of course, I then realized that I was on the outside of my door—and I had no clothes on.”

Cavill blamed the room’s confusing layout, alleging that the hotel room exit and the entrance to his bedroom seemed equivalent during the middle of the night. However, the problems didn’t end there. Cavill arose that morning with a strong urge to pee, but had no access to a bathroom.

“So naked was secondary for you at this point?” Meyers asked.

“At this stage, very secondary,” Cavill said.

The actor eyed plant pots, but decided that it was probably best for him to try to find a restroom upstairs near the pool area—which ended up being a closed-off tennis court.

“This was around 3 a.m,” he continued. “I then thought, ‘I’ve got to pee. This is getting bad now.’ So, I just peed off the top of the hotel. I felt like a little boy again. Then it dawned on me that I hadn’t quite solved the problem because I was locked outside my hotel room naked—and on the roof now.”
